What Is Ozempic®?

FDA-Approved Uses for Ozempic®

How Ozempic® Works

FDA-Approved Indication

Ozempic® (semaglutide) is FDA-approved for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus:
• As an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control
• To reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, or death in adults with type 2 diabetes and known heart disease
• To reduce the risk of kidney disease worsening, kidney failure, and cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease

Ozempic is not approved by the FDA for weight loss. Healthcare providers may prescribe medications for uses other than those approved by the FDA, known as "off-label" use, based on their medical judgment and your individual health circumstances.

Dosing & Administration

Ozempic® is self-administered as a subcutaneous (under the skin) injection once weekly. You can inject at any time of day, with or without meals.
Starting Dose:
New patients typically begin with 0.25 mg once weekly for 4 weeks. This starting dose is intended for treatment initiation to help your body adjust and is not effective for blood sugar control.
Already Taking Ozempic®?
If you're currently taking Ozempic® through another provider and would like to switch to Get Thin MD, this can be discussed with your licensed U.S. medical provider during your consultation. If appropriate, we can accommodate your current dosage.
Injection Sites:
Zepbound® can be injected in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate injection sites with each dose.
Missed Dose:
If you miss a dose, administer it as soon as possible within 5 days after the missed dose. If more than 5 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take your next dose on the regularly scheduled day.

Understanding Off-Label Medication Use

Understanding Off-Label Medication Use

Healthcare providers may prescribe FDA-approved medications for uses not listed in the official FDA-approved labeling. This practice, known as "off-label" prescribing, is legal and common in medical practice. Off-label prescribing is based on a healthcare provider's medical judgment, clinical experience, and evaluation of available scientific evidence.

While Ozempic® is FDA-approved specifically for type 2 diabetes and related cardiovascular and kidney conditions, some healthcare providers may prescribe it for other uses based on their professional medical judgment and your individual health circumstances.

Your healthcare provider at Get Thin MD will evaluate your medical history, current health status, and treatment goals to determine if Ozempic® is appropriate for you.

Important Safety Information

In animal studies (rodents), semaglutide caused thyroid C-cell tumors. It is unknown whether Ozempic® causes thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), in humans.

DO NOT USE OZEMPIC® IF YOU:

• Have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)
• Have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
• Have had a serious allergic reaction to semaglutide or any ingredients in Ozempic®
